Will Strictly 2020 be put on hold?

By: stagedoorscribbeler - March 23, 2020

Anton Du Beke

It must be spring. The annual crop of Strictly Come Dancing stories are all over the tabloids, telly and online news and celebrity gossip sites.
Just weeks after the show’s perennial favourite professional dancer Kevin Clifton announced that he was finally quitting the show to pursue “new projects” there is all manner of speculation about Strictly’s future.
Chief among the rumours, yet again, is whether 2020 will, be the final curtain for veteran dancer Anton Du Beke or indeed whether the show itself is likely to be pulled.
It seems Anton, who made it to the final last year, went on a daytime cooking show and, on the subject of Strictly, uttered the words:  “Well, if the show goes on”
That was it. Ladbrokes have quoted odds of just 2/1 for Anton calling it a day after the  next show.
But the world and his wife seem to be wondering whether there will be a next show at all. It’s a good point. If current advice/restrictions continue, it would be impossible to stage. Ballroom dancing is completely incompatible with social distancing and anyhow it would have to be  filmed without an audience. Not sure how that would work. In suspect there's a good chance that Strictly will be put on hold
