Good to see that TV shows like the Sky Arts series Landscape Artist of the Year, co presented by sometime Clive Conway Productions’ speaker Joan Bakewell, offer a real springboard for young talent

Painter Lucy Smallbone has just announced a new exhibition of her bold, colourful abstracts which aim to merge fictional and real spaces at London contemporary art gallery Fimano Clase later this year.

The show called Edgelands will run from 25th October to 15th December dovetailing with her appearance in the new season of Landscape Artist of the Year.

The competition carries a prize of £10,000 commission for a British institution’s permanent collection and £500 of art materials from Cass Art and also overlaps with Smallbone’s HSBC exhibition in Canary Wharf at the end of the year. Smallbone has a Master’s degree in fine art from the Slade `School of Art.

Joan Bakewell co-presents the show with actor Stephen Mangan.
