Resident Historian Kate Williams helps Frank Skinner's quest for knowledge
It’s nice to see our good friend and occasional speaker on the Clive Conway circuit, the author broadcaster and historian Kate Williams, back as resident expert on Frank Skinner’s BBC Radio 4 show The Rest is History.
Kate who is Professor of History at the University of Reading is perhaps best known as an expert on Royalty and constitutional affairs. She was kept particularly busy during the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations a couple of years ago and was much in demand during coverage of the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
Meanwhile her bestselling books include Young Elizabeth - Kate’s account of Queen Elizabeth’s early life while Becoming Queen was her biography of Queen Victoria’s ascension to the throne.
However as a social historian Kate Williams’ interest extends far beyond matters Royal. As"Historian in Residence" on The Rest Is History her sweeping knowledge comes into its own.The comedy discussion show with a serious purpose finds Frank and Kate joined weekly by a series of celebrity guests who mull over some of the oddest and most interesting moments in history. Catch The Rest is History at 6.30pm on Thursday on BBC Radio 4.
