Just a Minute or two: Nicholas Parsons prepares for his 96th birthday
Fans of the great and apparently indestructible 95-year-old Nicholas Parsons will be delighted to hear that he is well on the mend following his recent absence from his long running Radio Show Just A Minute.
Nicholas, who was suffering problem with his back, also pulled out of three performances of his Happy Hour Show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His good friend Gyles Brandreth stepped in as host on Just a Minute while Scots comedian Fred MacAulay, also a Just a Minute panelist, did the honours in Edinburgh,
Concern was understandable as Nicholas had only missed one other recording of the BBC Radio 4 show in the 52 years he has been hosting it.
But the indomitable broadcaster will be back on stage next Saturday 14th September appearing alongside Gyles Brandreth in a special matinee show at the Richmond Theatre.
The production is called Just A Minute Or Two!, and will celebrate their 50-year friendship with “varied tales from their different careers”. It also marks the run-up to Nicholas’s 96th birthday next month.
