Johnny Ball inspired a generation to love maths and science
Good to hear that TVs favourite maths and science whiz Johnny Ball will be touring with Clive Conway Productions next year. Now what most people know about Johnny these days is that he is the dad of the famous DJ and TV presenter Zoe. But he has two other successful children too - award winning director/screenwriter Nick and Structural Engineer Dan.
More importantly perhaps he has been entertaining for 60 years. He started as a stand-up comedian and even compered The Rolling Stones first major tour.
But most oft the past 35 years have been spent in education TV including popular shows like Think of a Number, Think Again for the BBC and Johnny Ball Reveals All for ITV both of which inspired a generation to have confidence in mathematics and science.
Johnny also wrote/produced and starred in five educational stage musicals between 1993 and 2003 playing to over 160,000 people every year.
His Millenium Dome Mind Zone Live show, "With Your Mind and Tomorrow's Engineering, Anything is Possible" - Sponsored by BAE Systems - sold out throughout 2000. the 79-year-old was also the oldest ever Contestant on Strictly Come Dancing when he took part in 2012.
He has produced and presented many award winning videos, educational, promotional and motivational projects and his latest book, Wonders Beyond Numbers: A History of all things Mathematical, was published in May this year.
