From Jesus to Chaucer and beyond: Robert Powell - a voice for all seasonss
As we all start looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint many of us are resolving to think at least twice before getting on a plane and jetting off to distant climes.
There is after all much to see and do right here in the UK. So it was that I found myself idly Googling a weird and wonderful selection of British visitor attractions.
And though I would be the first to admit that it doesn’t compete with lying on a Caribbean beach I did a double take when I looked at the suggested attractions offered by the Cathedral City of Canterbury.
This is principally because its interactive Canterbury Tales experience includes a prominent contribution from our good friend the actor Robert Powell.
The attraction promises the opportunity to experience “Chaucer's famous tales of misadventure and discover the sights, sounds and smells of Medieval England.”
Along the way you share five of Chaucer’s most famous tales with the aid of an audio guide narrated by famous voices recorded back in the 1980s including that of Robert Powell as the Nun’s Priest.
What more could you ask for than Chaucer’s timeless tales of of love, romance, jealousy and trickery.
There’s even a special version of the commentary for children.
