Country girl Kate Humble gears up for Autumn book tour
Great news! TV favourite Kate Humble will be back touring with Clive Conway Productions later this year discussing her forthcoming book Thinking on my Feet which will be published in the Autumn.
Kate is best known for BBC programmes like Springwatch and Autumn Watch, plus a raft of other popular shows like Extreme Wives with Kate Humble and Back to the Land. The latter’s second series being her latest TV venture. Others have included Wild Shepherdess, Yellowstone: Wildest Winter to Blazing Summer and Curious Creatures.
Her new An Audience With… show will find her not only promoting Thinking On My Feet but also discussing her life working with wildlife, the far flung places her career has taken her to and the inspiring people she has met on her travels. There's also a unique chance to go 'behind the camera' as Kate describes how the programmes are made along with some lovely anecdotes about the filming.
Kate, who lives with husband Ludo on a smallholding in Wales, says she spends her life in ‘permanently muddy jeans’.
She was born into this lifestyle enjoying what she describes as a 'proper childhood' - building camps, racing snails and climbing trees, interspersed with trips to A&E to patch up things when they broke.
At 18 she left school and home, and worked odd jobs to fund a year travelling in Africa - a trip, she says, that taught her far more than she would ever have learnt at university.
In 2007 she and Ludo moved to their smallholding in Wales and in 2011 set up 'Humble by Nature' a rural skills school on a working farm in the Wye Valley. They live with a variety of feathered and furry livestock and three dogs.
