Britain's favourite soprano Lesley Garrett discusses her amazing career
Great news! The irrepressible Lesley Garrett is back on the Clive Conway circuit. Once again audiences have the opportunity to join Britain’s most popular soprano for a delightful evening of song, reminiscences and chat.
When an earlier version of this show toured two years ago it was a great success and we are delighted to welcome it back to our autumn schedules.
Accompanied by, and in conversation with, pianist Anna Tilbrook, Lesley’s behind-the-scenes stories and anecdotes will give audiences a unique insight into her life on the stage.
As ever Lesley is in much demand. In the autumn of 2017 she returned to English National Opera for the world premiere production of Nico Muhly’s Marnie. Last spring she appeared with WNO in another world premiere creating the role of Emcee in Rhonda Rips It Up!, based on the life of suffragette Margaret Haig Thomas (Lady Rhondda) and last autumn saw Lesley making her acting debut in a revised version of Patrick Barlow’s play, The Messiah for the National Theatre of Brent, on tour and in the West End. This spring she created another new role in ENO’s world premiere of Iain Bell’s opera, Jack the Ripper at the Coliseum.
The latest An Audience with Lesley Garrett shows kick-off with an appearance at the Oxford Playhouse tonight 9th September. On Saturday 14th September she will be at the Theatre Royal in Winchester.
