A 'virtual' Chelsea Flower Show experience with Adam Frost
It’s ironic that at a time when many of us are getting more closely acquainted with gardens and gardening than ever before the annual Chelsea Flower Show has been cancelled.
Yes, the coronavirus managed to do what has only ever occurred in wartime before - the temporary closure of the annual Chelsea celebration.
But never fear the jewel in the crown of the horticultural year is still sparkling. It has been going now for 107 years and even though it can’t exist in physical form this year it now has the power to have a ‘virtual’ presence
From today (Monday 18th May) until and Saturday, 23rd May we welcome Virtual Chelsea. Today is for RHS members only - but the rest of the week will be open to the public. With a 45 minute daily programme presented by Nicki Chapman at 3.45pm on BBC One and another hour long show with Monty Don and Joe Swift on BBC Two at 8pm.
Digital which can be accessed via the RHS website https://www.rhs.org.uk/shows-events/virtual-chelsea include BBC presenter and designer Adam Frost who invites viewers to take a walk around his rural garden in Lincolnshire.
Later this year Adam will also be appearing with Clive Conway Productions appearing on 11th September in An Audience with Adam Frost at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre www.lichfieldgarrick.com
Since 2007, Adam has won seven gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. His love for the great outdoors started from a young age when he helped on his grandparent’s allotment. His fascination with watching plants and vegetables grown and the wildlife it attracted has stayed with him and he remains passionate about passing this on to future generations.
