Johnny Ball has been popularising science and mathematics for 30 years, writing and presenting solo TV series like Think of a Number, Think Again (BBC), and Johnny Ball Reveals All (ITV). His TV shows won 12 awards, including a New York International Emmy nomination, the ITVA Presenter of the Year Craft Award and a BAFTA.
Recently his Odds and Probability aired on ITV and he featured in BBC’s Simply Complicated. He reports and appears frequently for News Channels as a Maths and Science education pundit and has presented shows like Swapheads.
His Think of a Number one-man show toured for 13 yearsand he has written, produced and starred in five educational stage musicals.
His BAE Systems Mind Zone Live show was a sell out success in the Millennium Dome throughout 2000, he comperes The Halle Orchestra and is a frequent motivational speaker enthusing to schools and industry about science and technology.
Johnny has three honorary doctorates in Science from Glasgow (1997), Sheffield Hallam (1998) & Salford University (2001) and is a Fellow of the RSA.
In the late 60’s, as a stand-up comedian, he compered the first Rolling Stones tour, appeared on the Val Doonican and Harry Secombe TV Shows, compered ITV's Christmas Night Spectacular 1967 and starred in a Sadlers Wells Opera. He featured in Playschool for 17 years, wrote Playaway and adult TV comedy before turning to factual information.
Johnny recently visited Mali for Oxfam, and a lecture tour followed. He lives in South Bucks with his wife Di who he says keeps him On the Ball now that their three children, the famous Zoe, Nick (Award winning Director/Screenwriter) and Dan (Structural Engineer) have flown the coop.
